On August 5, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) announced its first endorsement of the 2014 elections, Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.).

Sen. Scott was one of only three members of Congress to achieve a perfect score of 100 percent in CCAGW’s 2013 Congressional Ratings, earning him the coveted title of “Taxpayer Super Hero.”  He was elected to the House of Representatives in November, 2010 and served until January 2013, when he was appointed to the Senate by Governor Nikki Haley following the resignation of Sen. Jim DeMint.  Sen. Scott is running in a special election to fill the last two years of Sen. DeMint’s second term.

“During his tenure in both the House and Senate, Sen. Scott has served the citizens of South Carolina with great distinction and evinced an abiding commitment to fiscal conservatism,” said CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz.  “He has shown steadfast leadership in the face of an intransigent and obstructionist Senate leadership and proved to be a tireless warrior for the interests of both South Carolinians and all U.S. taxpayers.”

On top of his 100 percent voting record in 2013, Sen. Scott worked with his colleagues during his first hundred days in the Senate to introduce a Balanced Budget Amendment, and was an original co-sponsor of a bill to permanently ban earmarks.

“Sen. Scott’s sterling voting record is one of the many reasons that I urge all South Carolinians to vote for him on November 4 so he can return to Washington, D.C. and continue to serve as the junior senator from the Palmetto State,” concluded Schatz.

Senator Scott is a GING-PAC endorsed lawmaker, a committed Christian and social conservative.
