House Passes Black’s Resolution Protecting States’ Right To Withhold Funding From Abortion ProvidersFeb 17th, 2017 | By fyork
Congressman Diane Black (R-TN-06), a registered nurse and member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, praised the bipartisan House passage of her resolution, H.J. Res. 43, which uses the authority of the Congressional Review Act to overturn a December 2016 Obama Administration rule forcing states such as Tennessee to provide Title X family planning grants to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. The resolution passed by a vote of 230 to 188.
Congressman Diane Black (R-TN-06), a registered nurse and member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, praised the House passage of H.R. 7, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. Congressman Black was an original cosponsor of the legislation and managed floor debate on behalf of House Republicans in support of the bill. The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act passed by a bipartisan vote of 238 to 183.

My legislation does not cut a single dime from public health funding. In fact, this bill provides an additional $235 million for our nation’s community health centers. For Planned Parenthood or others to claim that our legislation blocks access to preventive care is an outright lie.
With this rule, we see an administration that has become unglued at the knowledge of the impending pro-life sea change in Washington, DC. President Obama knows that hope is rising for the innocent victims of Planned Parenthood’s brutality and the big abortion industry’s days of taxpayer-funded windfalls are numbered. We should not be surprised that his administration would lash out with this eleventh hour power grab on the way out the door, but I am certain this rule will not stand for long.
“As a nurse for more than 40 years, I know that the abortion laws on the books in Texas exist to protect the health and safety of women. There is ultimately no such thing as a safe abortion but these standards work to reduce the risks of this already emotionally damaging procedure.”
Unable to offer a proper defense for her organization’s shameful behavior, Ms. Richards instead launched attacks against pro-life Americans who are rightfully concerned about what these undercover videos have revealed. She said we want to ‘cut off funding for basic health care for women’ when the truth is that defunding Planned Parenthood would not decrease the overall amount of funding for women’s healthcare.
