Ted Cruz

Texas Senatorial candidate Ted Cruz will be speaking at the GOP Convention tonight in Tampa, Florida.

On Monday, the Texas delegation kicked off its events with a standing ovation for Cruz who gave a short speech to the delegation. He told them: “I think the answer to every challenge is found in the state of Texas. What do we need nationally? More than anything else, we need to get back to Texas values.”

Over the weekend, Cruz attended a Faith and Freedom Coalition rally and joked about Joe Biden. “We have so many things to be thankful for. So many blessings, including even we can thankful for Hurricane Isaac. If nothing else, it kept Joe Biden away.” Biden had planned on making speeches in Tampa to disrupt the GOP Convention by sucking up news media coverage.

In his Texas Senate campaign, he’ll be facing Paul Sadler, a former state representative. According to Cruz, “I will give my opponent credit. He is running as an unapologetic liberal, and he’s staying true to his principles and I think that will present a clear choice to voters in November.”

Tonight, Ted Cruz will be speaking at the GOP Convention around 9:10 Eastern Time. Tune in!
