Mississippi Republican Chris McDaniel is running against GOP Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, who was appointed by the Republican governor to fill out the term of Sen. Thad Cochran who resigned for health reasons.
Hyde-Smith has only been a Senator since April, but has already developed a voting record that is more in line with Democrats than Republicans. NumbersUSA, a conservative group fighting illegal immigration gave her a dismal 25% grade for her votes. Socialist Bernie Sanders got a 24% rating from NumbersUSA.
Mark Levin’s Conservative Review also rates the votes of elected officials. The Review gave her a 50% rating. Tanner Watson, a campaign spokesman for Chris McDaniels notes: Cindy Hyde-Smith thought she could pretend to be a conservative and get away with it, but these two respected conservative groups are not going to allow her to say one thing in Mississippi and vote another way in Washington. Conservatives warned us about appointing a lifelong Democrat to the Senate and this is why. She votes for the other team.”
Hyde-Smith recently received a $250,000 donation from Sean Parker, who was a co-founder of Napster and Facebook. He is also one of Hillary Clinton’s largest donors, having raised more than $1 million for Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016.
Why would a radical liberal and Hillary supporter donate to a “Republican’s” Senate campaign? Could it be that he knows that Hyde-Smith really isn’t as conservative as she pretends to be? The McDaniels campaign is demanding that she return this dirty money.
As Tanner Watson noted: “Cindy Hyde-Smith voted for Hillary Clinton. She is funded by the same California liberal that funded Hillary Clinton. She fights for the same causes as Hillary Clinton. Cindy Hyde-Smith is no friend to President Trump. Quite frankly, she’s the opposite of everything he stands for.”
