September – October Update

GING-PAC candidates such as Joe Miller and Sharron Angle are leading the way to the defeat of radical leftists who have hijacked Congress. Angle now leads radical Senate majority leader Harry Reid in Nevada.

THE SENATE

JOE MILLER’S ALASKA:  I did not pay too much attention to any of the Alaska races until Joe Miller came from behind and beat incumbent Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski in the primary. How had Miller overcome a double digit deficit in the polls and beat the incumbent? I found out when I had an opportunity to talk with him when he visited Washington, DC at the end of September. He is a very impressive and persuasive speaker, with a background that would make any Alaskan or American proud to call him a friend.

Judge Joe Miller, candidate for the U.S. Senate            Joe Miller graduated from West Point with honors and won a bronze star during the First Gulf War. After leaving the Army Miller attended and graduated from Yale Law School where he obtained a law degree and then obtained a master’s degree in economics from the University of Alaska. After a time in private practice he served as both a state and federal judge, In fact, he was the youngest serving U.S. Magistrate Judge in the entire country. He also served at both the federal and state levels simultaneously.

In my capacity as the chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition, I work with numerous congressmen and Senators on social conservative and religious freedom issues. I never bothered to go by the office of Alaska Senator Murkowski’s office because she was just not a doer. She warmed a seat in the Senate and voted, and that was about it. I really look forward to working with Joe when he is elected to the Senate from Alaska. GING-PAC is actively supporting the Joe Miller campaign, and if we receive additional funds before the election we will do more for his campaign.

A SENATE BLOWOUT: Former Ku Klux Klansman Robert Byrd was first elected to the House from West Virginia in 1952 and served in the Senate from 1959 until his death this year. It was deemed impossible for a Republican to win the Byrd seat this fall.  Of course, it was also deemed impossible for the Edward Kennedy seat to go Republican in Massachusetts, but it did.

GING-PAC first backed John Raese for Senate when he ran against Robert Byrd a decade ago, because of his strong pro-family and fiscally conservative views. Under “issues” at John’s Internet site at http://www.raeseforsenate.org, the first item listed is “a pro-life conservative.” He does not run from his social conservative pro-life roots like many other “pro-business” Republicans.

Now the shocker: The West Virginia race is officially a “toss up” according to the latest Rasmussen poll, with Raese polling two (2) points ahead of Democrat Joe Manchin, who is currently the governor of that state. GING-PAC is funding the Raese campaign!

MORE BAD SENATE NEWS FOR DEMOCRATS: As of October 1st Real Clear Politics listed two races as “likely” and two “leaning” toward Democrats in the Senate. By contrast six races were “likely” and six leaning toward Republicans. Those numbers give Democrats 48 seats and Republicans 47 seats, with or without the five “tossups” which are Connecticut, Illinois, Nevada, Washington and West Virginia. Of the tossups, GING-PAC is involved in Nevada, Washington and West Virginia. We cannot support the Republicans in either Connecticut or Illinois because of questions about their stance on social issues such as same sex marriage and abortions.

GING-PAC supported Sharron Angle before she was officially in the GOP primary against establishment candidates. The largest newspaper in Nevada has just endorsed Angle, and despite being just about tied in the polls for the last two months, I believe she will defeat radical leftist Harry Reid.

Can Washington state go GOP? – GING-PAC is also supporting Dino Rossi in Washington state against liberal pro-abortion incumbent Patti Murray. A liberal pollster working for CNN has Murray up as much as nine points, but Rasmussen shows Rossi slightly ahead, which is probably correct. A full list of our Senate candidates is enclosed.

THE HOUSE

APPALLING ATTACKS IN FLORIDA: The Democrats are so far behind in House races that a strategic decision was make at the national level to try to win using personal attacks. In no place has this been more evident than in Florida. Democrat Congressman Alan Grayson (FL-8th), is the radical leftist who accused Republicans of wanting sick people to “die quickly.” In the race against Republican Daniel Webster, Grayson ran ads calling him“Taliban Dan” because of his Christian views on abortion and the role of men and women in marriage.  Apparently Grayson believes Christianity and radical Islam are comparable. Grayson took video clips out of context from a talk at a church, to make it appear that Webster was saying the exact opposite of what he did say. The dishonesty of the TV attack ad has been condemned even by the liberal Orlando Sentinel.

GING PAC proudly endorses Daniel Webster, who has taken one of the strongest sanctity of life positions of any candidate this year, and who states that he will be guided by his faith and family values in making decisions as a Congressman.

Another GING-PAC Florida candidate who has been unfairly maligned is retired Lt. Col. Allen West in the 22nd District.  West’s opponent, incumbent Ron Klein, mailed tens of thousands of campaign letters accusing West of being a deadbeat and tax cheat because years ago he had a tax lein posted aginst him. Klein did not mention the truth, that like many military families, Allen West’s family got behind on their bills while he was serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, and that the tax lein had been settled within a few months.  GING PAC endorsed Allen West and we stand by him.  Shame on the Democrats for shamelessly attacking this American hero.

WHERE WE STAND 30 DAYS OUT: Real Clear Politics poll averages show 190 seats “leaning” or “likely” for Democrats and 207 “leaning” or “likely” for Republicans, with 38 “tossups.” However, Real Clear Politics shows NC-7 as “leaning” Democrat but a recent poll shows GING-PAC supported Ilario Pantano with a one point lead. If the momentum stays with conservatives like Pantano, radical leftist nutcase Nancy Pelosi will not be the Speaker of the House. To win control Republicans need 218 seats. We are currently supporting candidates in 13 states which is about the same as Sarah Palin’s PAC and Mike Huckabee’s PAC. With all 435 seats up for grabs, no one PAC can raise the funds to help in all of the competitive races.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED

Radical left Democrats such as Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama are bankrupting our nation both spiritually and financially. This year 40% of the federal budget must be covered with borrowed money. For every two dollars the government collects in taxes, it hands out three dollars. America simply can’t afford these radicals and we have to get them out of office!  Please send a check to help today, or give an online gift at www.gingpac.org.
