GING PAC Statement on Daniel Webster:

As the state House Republican Leader in Florida in the 1990’s, Daniel Webster engineered the successful Republican takeover of 1996, ending 122 years of Democrat control and becoming the first GOP Speaker of the House in that state in over a century. As Speaker, Webster led sweeping conservative reforms in the Legislature. Then, in 1998 he was elected to the Florida Senate, where he served three terms. He was the Majority Leader during his third term. During his years in the Florida House and Senate, Webster continued to fight for reform according to conservative principles, and he gained the respect of many other conservative leaders.

On his website, Webster acknowledges “…his faith, his family, and his principles as his greatest assets”, and says that “These are the same values he will rely on to guide him as our [Florida’s] U. S. Congressman.”

Daniel Webster’s opponent is one of the most radical Congressmen in the U.S. House, Alan Grayson. Unable to defend his own record of radical liberalism and reckless spending, Grayson turned to dishonest personal attacks against Webster. He prepared a TV ad using video clips from a speech Webster had made at a church in 2009, during which he explained his interpretation of the biblical roles for men and women in marriage and parenthood. Grayson took short clips and pasted them together out of context, making it appear that Webster had said things which were really the opposite of the points he was making.

Not only did leading conservatives like Mike Huckabee and Shawn Hannity immediately come to Webster’s defense, but also more liberal commentators like Anderson Cooper of CNN, as well as the liberal leaning Orlando Sentinel newspaper, spoke out forcefully against the dishonesty of Grayson’s ad.

GING-PAC believes it is time for dirty trickster Alan Grayson to leave the Congress and be replaced with an experienced, honest conservative like Daniel Webster.
